Merrill Beans

My dad came into town last Thursday evening and so I made Merrill Beams for him. Merrill beans are pinto beans cooked with a ham hock, which adds lots of flavor. We call them Merrill Beans because when my dad was a growing up he said they had beans all the time, because they didn't have much money and beans were affordable. Anyway, he really likes them and we do too. I also made him another one of his favorites...biscuits and gravy. This is my families favorite breakfast and whenever we have them we think of Grandpa Merrill. We love you Grandpa!
