We learned that these doors were called Christian Doors, because of the cross on the top part and the open bible on the bottom part. I came home and looked at our doors and they are a modern version of Christian Doors too!
Part of Carthage Jail.
Judy, Barbara, & Debbie standing in front of the window that Joesph Smith fell out of after he was shot.
"Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." This is where this saying came from. The "sleep tight" part is due to the ropes that they used under the mattress. They would have to tighten the ropes every so often, so the bed wouldn't sag. The "don't let the bed bugs bite" comes from, there were bed bugs inside of the mattress because of the straw they were filled with. My mother used to says this to us all the time before we went to bed.
The actual door and bullet hole that the mobs shot through.
Kyle's standing in front of "the door" holding John Taylor's cane, which he used to try to stop the mobs from coming in the room.
I was fascinated by the purpose of these stars. I thought they were just for looks, but nope. The stars "hold" the building together. A rod goes from one star to another, behind the stone wall. The stars can be tighten or loosened. If the stars were loosened all the way, they walls would fall out and down.
The well that Joesph Smith landed on as he fell out of the jail window..
One of the stars that I was fascinated by and a tiny slit of a window in the jail cell.

Nauvoo Day 1
So, here is the beginning of a ton of pictures from our "Sisters Trip" to Nauvoo. This year we had a few extra people with us on our "Sisters Trip." We had Kyle, Zac, Grandpa Merrill, & Lila. The purpose of this trip was to help Lila do temple work for her family in the Nauvoo Temple.
Kyle, Barbara, and I just arrived at the St. Louis Airport where we met up with Debbie. (The others flew in the following day.)
On our drive to Nauvoo (about 3 1/2- 4 hours) we drove through Lima. No, not Lima, Peru, but Lima, Illinois. I had to stop and take a picture in memory of Tyson who is in Lima, Peru right now serving The Lord.
Kyle taking advantage of the drive.
Our first stop was in Carthage, Illinois.
