Memorial Day

  • We (Russell, Lacey, and myself) started Memorial Day off early by going to the Lehi Cemetery (one of my favorite places). Russell's oldest brother, Johnny, and his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Annemarie, gave us a tour of the cemetery. They know and remember where all of the family ancestor's are buried. I didn't take pictures of all the headstones that we honored. Johnny and Mary have been our tour guides before and we are grateful for them being willing to let us join them on this special day. Afterwards we were treated to a delicious breakfast at their home. Thanks Johnny and Mary!
P.S. The photo that I took of Tyler's headstone came out blurry, thus no photo of his headstone at this time.

The cemetery was so beautifully decorated with so many flowers. This picture was actually taken about a week after Memorial Day when we went to take down our flowers, so a lot of the flowers were already gone. Tyler's headstone is in the front on the right and Russell's dad's headstone is in the front on the left. This is where Russell and I will someday be buried also.
Russell's dad's headstone was put up only a few weeks before Memorial Day, so this was the first time that we saw it.
The back side of Russell's dad's headstone.
Sideways...sorry. This is Russell's maternal grandparents headstone. They were great people!
Sideways again...sorry. This is who Tyler and Bronco are named after. Daniel was a great and well-known pioneer. This is a newer headstone for Daniel STILLWELL Thomas.
This is Daniel STILLWELL Thomas' original headstone.
  • Later that evening we had a barbecue with some of Russell's BYU co-workers and their families. We enjoyed good food and good company. We enjoy having barbecues in our backyard...it feels like we are up the canyon. P.S. Somehow I missed getting a picture of Mike (Provo Temple Grounds foreman). I guess we'll have to have another barbecue so I can snap a picture of him.
What's a summer barbecue without homemade root beer?
Keg Roaster
Yummy whole chicken's cooked "keg roaster style" with strawberry kiwi soda pop.
John (Marriott Center Grounds Foreman)
Tyson made a fire in the fire pit, because it got chilly. These boys LOVED the fire.
